The Association of Business Executives (ABE) is a United Kingdom based professional body that has been offering high quality education and has students in countries worldwide. Completion of the Diploma or Advanced Diploma is a step to acquiring a University degree, MBA or other higher professional qualification.

Universities in several countries have considered applications from qualified ABE students for admission to their degree programmes and professional qualifications.  Some of the countries are as follows:

1. Business Administration

This ABE course provides a professional qualification which may be used to prepare for a career in business. The course provides students with an appreciation of the theoretical issues involved in the study of business and a range of practical skills which will enhance their value in the business sector.

You will study the following modules:

DIPLOMA PART 1

Four compulsory subjects:

  • Economics
  • Organisational Behaviour

  • Business Communication and Presentation

DIPLOMA PART 2

Four compulsory subjects:

  • Human Resource Management
  • Quantitative Methods
  • Managerial Accounting

Plus one of the following options:

ADVANCED DIPLOMA

Three compulsory subjects:

2. Business Information Systems

This ABE course is designed for those who wish to enter or who are employed in the IT sector. It provides students with the requisite skills needed for developing business applications using spreadsheets, databases and other rapid application development packages.

It affords students the ability to work confidently with their IT colleagues and also understand the business potential for networking and the Internet.

You will study the following modules:

  • IT Applications and Skills
DIPLOMA PART 1

  • Computer Fundamentals

DIPLOMA PART 2

  • Networks and Distributed Systems

ADVANCED DIPLOMA

Four compulsory subjects:

3. Travel, Tourism and Hospitality

This ABE course is designed for those who wish to enter or who are employed in the tourism and hospitality industry. The course is also suitable for those who have working experience in the industry but do not possess a formal qualification.

Tourism today is a major international industry which is essential for national and regional economic development in many countries. The course provides a solid base of theory, principles and practice of management relevant to the developing tourism and hospitality industry.

You will study the following modules:

  • Introduction to Travel, Tourism and Hospitality

DIPLOMA PART 1

                   Four compulsory subjects:

  • Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Operations Management

ADVANCED DIPLOMA

                   Three compulsory subjects:

  • International Travel, Tourism and Hospitality
  • Tourism and the Environment

  • Managing the Information Resource      

Human Resource Management: For the time being this programme is reserved for practitioners of Human Resource Management.

Tuition

Teaching is comprised of a combination of lectures, tutorials, case study analysis and individual project work.

Internal Assessment

Your progress on the course will be assessed by a combination of course work including essays, reports, class tests, project work and examination.

Final examinations are conducted by the Association of Business Executives (ABE) who awards the final certificate for the programme.

Admission Requirements

Entry to certificate level

Applicants must normally be 18 years of age and hold the minimum entry requirement of

  • GCE ‘O’ Levels including English and Mathematics, RSA II, LCC II, NVTI
  • Senior Secondary School Certificates (SSSC) in at least 4 subjects including English and Mathematics. 

Entry to Diploma level

  • Ghana Commercial Examinations, GCE ‘O’ Levels, SSSCE, RSA II, LCC II with 2 years working experience or ‘A’ Levels passes, DBS Diploma from recognized institution.
  • Holders of higher qualifications may gain exemption from some of the examinations.  

Entry to Advanced Diploma level

  • First degree or HND
